When does this challenge start? January 1, 2012? I seem to remember reading that the next one would start then.
Yes, January 1st! I just wanted to post this early so people could start picking books
I understand. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it. Thanks.
I’m signing up – here is my link http://themaidenscourt.blogspot.com/2011/12/4-month-challenge-part-8.html.
Oh shoot, did you change the “Read a book by an author with 12 letters in their name”?–I had copied it as first or last name and I already read for it. D’oh?
I did change it because I thought it would be too hard. LOL I guess not. No worries, though. I’m easy. Add it to your points!
Actually it WAS really hard; I just stumbled on something on my shelf that would work. So in case anyone else has something by Mary Higgins Clark waiting to be read, her combined last names would give you 12 characters. If anyone else wanted to go that route
I did the first 4 parts and lost it, now i am back in
I’m in! Here’s my post: http://my-book-obsession.blogspot.com/2012/01/four-month-challenge-part-8.html
Thanks for hosting again!
Here’s my sign-up post: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2011/12/new-four-month-challenge-part-8.html
I’ve already read: a book by an author writing under another name – “India Was One” by An Indian for 5 points; a book with a flower on the cover – “Comfort & Joy” by Kristin Hannah for 10 points; and an author with first or last name starting with “M” – “I Am the Messenger” by Markus Zusak for 20 points. That’s 35 points so far. Off to a good start.
Here’s a link to my thoughts on Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare — a 25 point selection — a book about a royal (fiction or nonfiction):
http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2012/01/clockwork-prince-by-cassandra-clare.html
Alright, first entry of 2012, for 15 points for Author with first or last name beginning with M – To Serve a King by Donna Russo Morin.
Give another 10 points for a book whose author’s name starts with “F”. I read Wildflower Hill by Kimberley Freeman. Here’s my review: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2012/01/wildflower-hill-by-kimberly-freeman.html
Thanks!
I’m not sure what I did originally, but the point values should be 5, 10, 15 and 20.. not 25. My brain was sleeping when I made up this post. LOL
Another 5 points for a fairy tale book – Half Upon a Time by James Riley.
Updated
I read “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle as the book I’ve been meaning to read for ages — here’s my review: http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2012/01/wrinkle-in-time-by-madeleine-lengle.html
That’s 5 more points putting me at 75 points so far – not 10 as listed above.
Whoops! February snuck up on me and I forgot to come check in. I have 125 points so far, so January started really well! Hoping I can keep the momentum going…
Grr…reposting so it links my name to the updated challenge, not the previous one.
Another 10 points for a book with a book on the cover – Look to the East by Maureen Lang
Updated again
5 points for Read a Book You’ve Been Meaning to Read for Ages – Winter of the Red Snow by Kristiana Gregory
15 points for A Book You’ve Read Before – Across the Wide and Lonesome Prairie by Kristiana Gregory
All updated. I’m doing wayyy better this challenge. I’ve been lazy with my reading the last few months (or more) and I’m on a good roll right now.
Need an opinion vote from our leader: I’m reading a book now that kind of edges around two of the categories above but doesn’t fully meet them and wanted to see if you’d “take” it for either of them since I’d feel funky about claiming them without checking with the rules mistress first
It doesn’t take place in ANCIENT Egypt, but it does take place in past (historical) Egypt…early 1900′s. Also, though the main setting is not ON a boat, there is a houseboat that factors pretty prominently into the storyline and several scenes take place there.
Would you take either of these as “close enough”?
Close enough for me!
Awesome…I think I’ll use it for the Egypt portion then, since I know I have other boat/pirate books in my stash somewhere. TY!
20 points for a dystopian novel – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Total of 70.
Another 20 points, Read a book about a royal (fiction or non) – The Sister Queens by Sophie Perinot. New total of 90.
Ok 2 more updates-
20 points for an author with 12 letters in their name – The Far Side of the Loch by Melissa Wiley
and
10 points for a book with ‘love’ in the title – The House I Loved by Tatiana de Rosnay.
Total 120!
Alright, what is likely my last updates – 10 points for author with a name beginning with F – The Rise of the West 1819-1829 by Frederick Jackson Turner.
5 points for author with a name beginning with J – His Excellence, George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis.
Total 135 points.
Here’s my wrap-up post. I only racked up 180 points, but it was fun anyway. Waiting on the next category list…
http://bookendcrossing.blogspot.com/2012/04/wrap-up-post-for-4-month-challenge-part.html
Should we start going right away in May? That’ll give me some work to do in the next few days.. LOL Could be done… Anyone have any category suggestions?
Well shoot, I didn’t quite make it this time….only got to 215 this round.
Suggestions for next round:
A book with a vehicle in the title (ship, train, car)
A book with a boy child/teenager as a main character
A book published in the last ten years
A book you borrowed and have been meaning to give back
A nonfiction book
Something that’s been adapted for television/movie screens
Awesome. I’m going to use all of those. hahaha
I’ll have the post up today!!
New challenge is up and ready! Sorry I left it until the last minute – I guess part of the challenge will be finding the right books
http://virginiebarbeau.wordpress.com/t4mc-9-updates-page/
This time I made only 135 points, I’ll sign up for part 9, too
